Adaptation: A trait that enables an organism to survive and reproduce in its habitat. Trait: A characteristic or quality of an organism. Can be structural or behavioral

Mimicry- When an animal or plant copies the look of a dangerous organism to protect itself Camouflage – When an organism’s look blends into the environment. Such as white fur in snow

Hibernation – A slowed physiological state of an organism to survive long periods of cold temperature or reduced food supplies. Migration – Movement to a different geographical or climatic region where food is more available.

Natural Selection: Process of selection in changes in adaptations where the “best” traits become more common and “bad” traits become less common. Selective Breeding: Intentionally breeding organisms with specific adaptations to create a new generation with the best adaptations.
