4. 0 "Contact Hour" is the term used by the ANCC to define a unit of nursing continuing education in nursing. A contact hour for all courses accredited on or after January 1, 2007 is defined as: “60 minutes of an organized learning activity, which is either a didactic or clinical experience.“ To estimate the number of contact hours for an educational activity, total the minutes spent in didactic or clinical experience and evaluating the activity and divide by 60. For example, 60 minutes = 1 CH, 150 minutes = 2.5 CH, etc.
