Color in a publication can: Elicit feelings Emphasize important text Attract attention Choose one or two colors Use “spot color” by using color only in specific areas

Print all copies on a color printer Print on a color printer and duplicate with a color photocopier Print on colored paper Print on specialty paper

Balance: Amount of light and dark in a picture Color wheel: Device used to illustrate color relationships Contrast: Amount of gray in a color Gradient: Gradual varying of color Hue: Variation of a color, such as green-blue

Pixel: Each dot in a picture or graphic Resolution: The number of dots that make up an image on a screen or printer Reverse: Black background on white foreground or white type against a colored background Saturation: Purity of a color
