S.MonteilCaloPiquet1 August 2010 – A typical online Calo Piquet Analysis - Outline of the analysis (Fill 1264 – Run #77195) 1. Calorimeter 2DViews, inclusive distributions 2. Reconstruction 3. Hadron and EM triggers performance 1. DAQ/Tell1 summary 2. CF summary.

S.MonteilCaloPiquet2 1. Calorimeters 2D Views Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/Calorimeters/Calo2DView Comment: allows to spot hot/dead channels. For instance, 5 dead channels in HCAL (See the CaloPiquet twiki page).

S.MonteilCaloPiquet3 1. Inclusive distributions: XCAL Pick up the distributions in HISTDB/Shift/XCAL: XCAL Status Overview Comment: the typical ECAL and HCAL ADC spectra. You can refine the view by looking at the number of saturated channels per event.

S.MonteilCaloPiquet4 1. Inclusive distributions: PRS Pick up the distributions in HISTDB/Shift/PRS: PRS Status Overview Comment: PRS measures MIPs at ~15 ADC counts (left plot) and EM component (right plot).

S.MonteilCaloPiquet5 1. Inclusive distributions: SPD multiplicity Pick up the distributions in HISTDB/L0Calo/SPD/Summary Comment: those days, we have pretty occupied detectors. 400 hits in average for SPD. Far from the design. Do not report that anyway at the run meeting, even if you fear for your hadronic and/or EM channel …

S.MonteilCaloPiquet6 2. Reconstruction Pick up the distributions in HISTDB/Calorimeters/Reconstruction Comment: well, see some online pi0s.

S.MonteilCaloPiquet7 3. Hadron trigger performance Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/L0Calo/Hadron/Emulator Comparison Comment: the plots on the left compare the trigger response to the reconstructed response from the DAQ values. Any entry points a hardware failure. In this case (HC24FEB1), all the HW were changed except the cable…

S.MonteilCaloPiquet8 3. Electron trigger performance Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/L0Calo/Electron/Emulator Comparison Comment: few errors inner C-side. No obvious trend observed. Make sure the L0Calo guys are aware of it.

S.MonteilCaloPiquet9 3. Photon trigger performance Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/L0Calo/Photon/Emulator Comparison Comment: same comment as the previous one is in order. When checking Global pi0 (HISTDB/L0Calo/Global pi0/Emulator Comparison), you’ll find an error-free response (ECAL only). The guilty guy here is hence most likely the PRS.

S.MonteilCaloPiquet10 4. DAQ/Tell1 summary Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/Calorimeters/Analysis/CaloReadoutStatus Comment: tells you how the DAQ communications behaved. This run is perfect. An error rate (correlated between all detectors) of few per 10 -4 is acceptable [corresponds to a known desync Croc/Tell1 for the first BCID count].

S.MonteilCaloPiquet11 5. Calibration Farm summary Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/Calorimeters/Analysis/CalibrationData Comment: overview of the four detectors. They are critical plots since they trigger Shift Crew actions. Comments destinated to the data manager have been updated. In more details for each detector …

S.MonteilCaloPiquet12 5. Calibration Farm summary: ECAL. Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/Calorimeters/Analysis/CalibrationData Comment: give statements on the detector, provided that the LED monitoring system behaves as expected. If the number of channels in error/fatal notice are large (>300), most likely linked [for the time being] to a LEDTSB configuration problem. Action: reconfigure LEDTSB. The shift crew is notified to do so. Actions in nominal operation (hopefully soon) are also given in Shift page. GainVariation Pmt2PinNoise NoGainMonitor LargeLEDNoise LEDNoise OutRangeLED LowLEDSignal UnexpectedSignal PedestalChi2 LargePedestalNoise PedestalShiftOverNoise PedestalNoise AveragePedestalNoise LargePedestalShift PedestalShift

S.MonteilCaloPiquet13 5. Calibration Farm summary: HCAL. Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/Calorimeters/Analysis/CalibrationData Comment: stable so far. The nominal indications to the shift crew are standing. 14 S.MonteilCaloPiquet14 5. Calibration Farm summary: PRS. Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/Calorimeters/Analysis/CalibrationData Comments: under development. LEDs are not enabled. The corresponding 4 monitored quantities should be found in UNKNOWN state at each data SaveSet. Pedestal mean and sigma are measured for the two VFE alternances. A goodness of fit is given in each case (~300 warnings is currently the expectation). No action must be taken so far. Yet, warn L. Li Gioi or S. Monteil for any deviating behaviour. Chi^2 of the fit odd Pedestal sigma odd Pedestal mean odd Chi^2 of the fit even Pedestal sigma even Pedestal mean even

S.MonteilCaloPiquet15 5. Calibration Farm summary: SPD. Pick up the distribution in HISTDB/Calorimeters/Analysis/CalibrationData Comments: under development. Again LEDs are not enabled. The corresponding 2 monitored quantities should be found in UNKNOWN state at each data SaveSet. Count the number of hits for each alternance. No signal expected apart the electronic noise. Actions: diagnose noisy channels. In case of Error/Fatal, you’ll have most likely to mask the channel in the trigger path.. Electronic noise odd Electronic noise even

S.MonteilCaloPiquet16 6. Conclusion. It was a nice run …
