2 Objective: To listen and respond appropriately to oral communication. Question of the Day: What if roosters could talk? What might a rooster say instead of “cock-a-doodle-doo”? When I give you the signal, turn and talk with your partner using the stem below. A rooster might say, “ __________.”

11 Fluency Oh, no! It is late! Where is Rick? Is Rick sick? No! Rick is fast asleep! Get up, Rick! It is late! When I read, I pay attention to capital letters so I know where a sentence begins. I also pay attention to commas and end marks. When I see a comma, I pause. When I see an exclamation point, I make my voice sound excited. When I see a question mark, I sound as if I am asking a question.
