ASSIGNMENT: n Create an imitation (faux) stain glass window. –Suggested images: n Flower n Sun symbol n Bird n Fish n Animal n object

Planning Steps: n Plan image on newsprint n On tracing paper, draw a frame around the edge of the paper. n Draw your image large in the center. n Draw connecting bridges from the image to the frame. n Draw details - remember to connect with bridges. n Use Xacto knife to cut out areas

CAUTION: n CUT ON A PADDED SURFACE SUCH AS A MAGAZINE… Not on the table! n Hold the knife as you would a pencil. n Don’t cut with the point, but use more of the “blade”. n Pull the knife in the direction you want to cut - don’t push. n Turning the paper is easier than turning the knife

Construction Steps: n Fold black paper in half. n Use only the front cover for all work. Keep the inside Clean. n Use tracing paper template to draw image onto front of black paper n Use Xacto knife to cut out areas. Hold knife on a slant and cut through both layers of black paper. n CUT ON A PADDED SURFACE… Not on the table!

Tissue Paper “Faux Glass” Steps: n Trace a negative, cut out area onto tissue paper. n Cut traced area from tissue paper 1/4 inch larger. n Apply glue to edge of area on black paper. n Attach tissue paper. n One area of “faux glass” is completed.

Finishing Steps: n Fill all negative areas with “glass” n Turn the folded black paper inside out n Apply glue to all black areas. n Tissue paper will be “sandwiched” between the two sheets of black paper.
