Schools Cont’d Schools in poor areas have smaller budgets and less money to spend on construction Building codes up to international standards in China but no one to enforce in poor areas Bribes Buildings in the same area had little damage

Government Response China is first complemented as being very open about the disaster and efficient in recovery Many local governments promised to investigate schools collapse Investigations into professional crime Government pledges 8 billion Yuan in rebuilding funds.
