Point of View “I must admit I felt a little proud when my captain offered me the second rank in the ship”(17). The quote I have chosen shows that the book is in first person because it tells how Walton is feeling. If the book had a different point of view then the readers wouldn’t get to know how the character feels throughout their life. It would be confusing to read the book without knowing somewhat of the characters emotions. If the novel was using a different point of view we would just know how what the monster did and how he did it. We wouldn’t feel sorry for the monster because we would not know why he is creating this destruction.

Allusion “Remember that I am your creature. I ought to be your Adam, but instead I am the fallen angel”(95). The allusion in the quote explains how god created Adam like Victor created the creature, but Victor is treating the creature like he is Satan. It is important to the novel because the readers need to know that Victor is the creatures God. If the novel did not have this allusion then the readers would be lost because they would not understand the creature loves Victor like Adam loved God.

Doppelganger “The goodness of the cottagers inspired the monster to help them. He secretly chopped wood during the night and left it at there door”(108 summary). The quote above is telling how the monster had compassion for the De Lacy family and wanted to help them. Which shows how he is Frankenstein’s doppelganger because the creature is very compassionate and emotional and shows it, but Victor is not that compassionate and never likes to shows his emotions. The novel show the doppelganger between Victor and the creature to show that the creature is the other side of Victor. If the novel lacked this we probably wouldn’t understand the connection the creature and victor has to each other.

Gothic Element “The rain pattered gloomily against the panes, and my candle was nearly burnt out. Then, by the glimmer of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open”(57). The characteristics of the melancholy morning make this quote an excellent example of a gothic element. The gothic elements of this novel helps the reader foreshadow on something bad. Without the gothic element the book would not as eerie as it is now. It would not have that feel of fright in it.
6
Imagery “In my joy I thrust my into the live embers. But I quickly drew it out again with a cry of pain”(101). This quote is tells you how the creature feels when he sticks his hand in the fire. Imagery puts a more descriptive swing on what the characters see, hear, feel, smell, and taste without imagery books would be lifeless. You wouldn’t know if the pie smelled like apple or blueberry or if the birds were singing sweet melodies or ear busting music. The novel would be a bit dull without imagery.
