About English IV Main components of the course British literature Writing (creative and technical) In addition to academic focus, students should learn to: Develop more independence Take ownership of their own learning Learn to advocate for themselves

About British Literature Some titles we will cover include: Epic poem - Beowulf pieces from the Legend of King Arthur Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Le Morte d’Arthur pieces from Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales The Pardoner’s Tale The Wife of Bath’s Tale

About Other Class Requirements Vocabulary Related to literature that is being read Greek/Latin roots Grammar and editing skills Meant to encourage/improve self-editing Novel Project 3 British novels = 3 book analyses Wuthering Heights, Frankenstein & Dracula Format available on website, includes all due dates Book Circles established for student support

About Class Procedures Goal #1= Weekly updated grades (Home Access) Goal #2 = Weekly Polytech website maintenance Strict late work & make up work policy Late policy – work accepted for up to 10 days after initially due but with a 50% penalty Make up policy – # of days absent plus 1 It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of all make- up work and due dates.
