Types of Peripheral Neuropathy There are many types of Peripheral Neuropathy that are classified based on their root causes. Some of them include: hereditary post-chemotherapy heavy metal toxicities alcoholism diabetes idiopathic or unknown causes

Symptoms of Peripheral Nuropathy Remarkably, patients who are diagnosed with various types of peripheral neuropathy have very similar symptoms. These include: numbness loss of sensation tingling and sleep disturbance.

Determining PN’s components Thorough evaluation is necessary to determine the components of any type of Peripheral Neuropathy.

Clinical examination should include: …vital signs, body mass index, the mobility and range of motion of lower back and hips, and the overall health of the feet, skin, nails and hair, and circulation.

Comprehensive Neurological Examination …reflexes, muscle-testing, and sensation to touch, vibration and position, balance, gait hot and cold, etc

Laboratory tests …such as chemistry panel, kidney and liver function test, blood-sugar level and a hemoglobin A1c.
