The 1977 amendments: Regulates pollutant discharge in U.S. waters. Allowed EPA to create pollution control programs. Made a standard of how much pollution can be deposited into U.S. waters. Can’t dump sewage without a permit. Noticed that they need to pay more attention to non-direct sources of pollution as well.

The Federal Water Pollution Control Act of 1948 was the first major U.S. law to address water pollution. Congress started the CWA in 1972.

Nonpoint sources Run-off of chemicals and sediments from cropland, livestock feedlots, logged forests, urban streets, parking lots, lawns, lawns, and golf courses. Point Sources Pollutants at specific locations through drain pipes, ditches, or sewer lines.

Less Pollution. Started sewage treatment plants. Raised awareness to other causes of pollution. There pretty much aren’t any… I mean look at it…
