During this activity, you will compete in a game of “Team Tag”. Two teams will compete against each other and try to tag as many “free” people as possible.
2
We will use the area outside of Mr. Helgerson’s door where you come in from recess North of the sidewalk. Sidewalk = Safe Zone Playing Area Sidewalk SCHOOL

Before leaving the room, let’s review the game and its rules. Each team will be assigned half of the courtyard as their “territory”. Each team will begin with three members. All other students will begin as “free” players. Players on each team link arms to form a chain. The team’s goal will be to tag “free” players, forcing them to join their team. Two Ways to Win the Game: 1. If you remain untagged at the end of the game. 2. If you are tagged but end up on the largest team when the game ends.

Rules of the Game 1. The teacher will choose a team leader for each team. Each team leader will choose two other players and link arms to form their chain. The team leader must always remain at the head of the chain. 2. The teacher will tell groups of free players when they may enter the game. 3. The team leader and the player at the end of each chain will try to tag the free players. Once free players are tagged, they must immediately join the end of the chain that tagged them. 4. Teams are allowed to enter “enemy territory,” but they risk losing players. If players from one team’s chain enter the other team’s territory and are tagged, they must switch teams immediately. 5. If team leaders touch each other, the game is over and all students lose. You will hear a whistle when team leaders are in danger of touching.
