Market Leadership & Capacity SABMiller India leads in both strong and mild beer segment with a market share of 40% and 30% respectively. Royal Challenge Premium Lager is growing more than twice the rate of the mild beer industry. Foster’s constitutes 85% share in the premium beer category and has grown by more than 45% in 2007-08.The ethos of quality reflects in the fact that the company plans an investment of US $500 million to modernize and double the capacity over a period of next five years. With 10 high quality breweries located strategically across 9 states in India, SABMiller India is well placed to service the markets quickly and efficiently with a dedicated workforce of over 3500 people. The company’s brewery in Andhra Pradesh is India’s first brewery to have more than 100 million liter capacity, which is twice the size of the second largest brewery in India.The wide sales and distribution network covering every single state in India, ensures that the company meets the expectations of the trade and consumers. The modern trade practices and transparent dealings followed by SABMiller India has ensured a long lasting partnerships with its key stakeholders, viz., customers and consumers. Innovations SABMiller India offers the widest range of pack sizes for beer in India, which includes 650 ml bottle, 500 ml bottle, 330 ml bottle, 500 ml can, 330 ml can, 50 liter draught and 30 liter draught. SABMiller has also used its global expertise to create many firsts in India including the use of one-way bottles, flash pasteurized draught standards, and Hayward's Black — a genuine stout beer. The company has enhanced its existing portfolio in India in its premium brand category with the launch of Italian brand Peroni Nastro Azzurro. SABMiller India recently launched Indus Pride, India’s first 100 per cent malt beer. Commitment to India As a company that is continuously striving to contribute to the communities and their sustainability, SABMiller India has undertaken a range of citizenship initiatives. With the objective to improve the barley quality & supply, SABMiller India has initiated a ‘Barley Development Project’, called Saanjhi Unnati (Progress through Partnership) in Rajasthan in the 2003. This project assists the farmers and local community in maximizing land use and securing good income. It has now grown to 12 Centers in 4 districts of Rajasthan with membership of over 6000 farmers. SABMiller India plans to continue to work on creating a national footprint for its brands (both in terms of quality and content) by modernizing and improving efficiencies of plants, introducing new technologies, improving brand performance in the key bear markets and make forays into newer territories.
