CHAPTR 4 Be Practical A WHACK ON THE SIDE OF THE HEAD By Kirsten Dana, Jonah Stokes, and Anya Bernhard

What if?  Ask yourself, “What if?” to get your ideas going  The “What if” question can be anything that you can think up…Just make sure it’s practical.

What If? Continued…  Growing backwards  Imagine the life cycle is backwards…  You should die first, and get it out of the way.  Then you live for 20 years in an old age home and get kicked out when you're too young.  You get a gold watch and then you go to work.  You work for 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy retirement.  You go to college and you party until you're ready for high school.  Then you go to grade school; you become a little kid, you play, you have no responsibilities.  You become a little baby; you go back into the womb  You spend your last 9 months floating, and you finish off as a gleam in somebody's eye.

Imagine How Others Would Do It!!!  Think about how someone else would think about or handle a situation.  What would Winston Churchill do? The Three Stooges? Martin Luther King?

Imagine you’re the Idea!!!  Imagine you were the thing you are trying to change.  Example: You’re a box a Fruit Loops and your box is brown. No one would want to buy you! So what do you do? Add color to the box! Use your imagination!

Stepping Stones!!! *Using “Stepping Stones” is a great way to work up to things. *You don’t execute stepping stones, you launch your thinking from them.

The Problem is Remaining an Artist After Growing Up !  We have to be practical for most of our daily activities- work, school etc.  You can’t hit the imaginary brakes in the car, or do your imaginary homework!  USE PRACTICAL IMAGINARY IDEAS!  Be imaginative, but don’t go overboard.

“First, have a definite, clear practical ideal; a goal, an objective. Second, have the necessary means to achieve your ends: wisdom, money, materials, and methods. Third, adjust all your means to that end.” Aristo tle
