How a Hot Air Balloon Works The Basket Where the passengers and pilot stand The Burner The unit which propels the heat up inside the envelope The Envelope The actual fabric balloon which holds the air
9
First Thing We Did Spreading out the balloons tissue paper
10
Paper + Glue= After carefully gluing the tissue paper together we had 9 of these colorful strips
11
Combining the strips After the glue finished drying, we carefully pile the strips on top of each other to form 3 strips with 3 layers.
12
Drawing the Template After making all of the 3x3 tissue paper sheets, Evan draws the template using a ruler and a piece of string *NOTE* he ripped part of the paper that we didn’t use. On accident,
13
Continuing the Template This time instead of drawing the top half of the balloon, he prepares to draw the bottom part.
14
Drawing the bottom half of the balloon, Evan and I hold a ruler so that a straight line can be drawn. Below is just Evan. Bottom Half
15
Making a 3D balloon Evan delicately over folding the balloon to give it a 3 Dimensional body
16
Test Video Number One Showcasing the actual jobs of the members, except for Matt, he was the one filming behind the camera.
17
The 3 Dimensional figure being formed and showcased.
18
Adjusting Edges Watch as Matt smoothes the edges of the balloon by cutting them ever so carefully as to not tear the paper
19
Fixing Holes Patching up holes in the balloon is no easy job. Sometimes they’re very hard to spot. Evan is like a hawk.
20
Found some more We found some more holes that needed patching. OH NO!
21
How long did it FLY?! Not very long. But you can see for yourself on the next slides.
22
Some last minute patching

Looking Back on the Project This project all in all was not very hard Some problems with building materials, mainly glue Obstacles in the flight path (Light Post) Software issues (not having PowerPoint at home) -------------------------------------------------------- Evan response: It was really fun I really enjoyed seeing our work pay off --------------------------------------------------------- Couldn’t get Matt’s response because he doesn’t share the same study hall as me and Evan do when we work on the PowerPoint
