Why Integrate Technical Services? Increase scope of language & subject expertise Eliminate redundant tasks Many TS tasks can be performed remotely 20% of 2CUL staff works in technical services Potential for significant reallocation of resources Model for mainstreaming 2CUL more broadly across both institutions

Towards 2CUL Technical Services: Thorough review of current policies and practices Development of best practices for 2CUL Creation of joint framework for negotiation with vendors and other third parties Redefinition of job responsibilities Adoption of new joint organizational structure Implementation of a shared LMS

Operating Principles for a Shared LMS Single, but mixed environment System will be used by affiliate, non-2CUL libraries Some bibliographers select for both libraries Use of acquisitions vendors varies across 2CUL E-resource licenses coordinated, but not identical Separate fund structures, accounts payable, and ledger systems for each institution

Co-licensed resources will be managed through a single 2CUL “collaborative zone” Approaches to statistical counts may vary Borrowing privileges will be determined by owning library, but applied to all 2CUL patrons Separate remote storage facilities, with separate inventory control systems
