Prior to beginning of construction, abatement of hazardous materials took place. Karen Willig of Enercore Services is removing roof materials to test for asbestos.
3
Abatement proceeds with removal of three layers of old roofing.
4
Doors and windows are removed from the site to storage. Some went to Sacramento for restoration, these were returned wrapped in protective material. Others were placed directly into storage.
5
On March 3 rd, a gala start of construction event was held in front of the Tong Building. It began with a traditional Chinese lion dance.
6
The celebration featured speakers who represented agencies key to the successful launching of Phase 1. The speaker at the podium is Don Nottoli, Sacramento District 5 County Supervisor. On the right is Mimi Morris, Executive Officer of the CCHE. On the left is Mark Bettencourt, Mayor of Isleton.

A temporary center wall was constructed to help stabilize the building during construction. Tilt-up jacks used to erect concrete tilt-up buildings were employed to bring the structure back to vertical.

The metal siding as well as the shiplap siding that was under it were removed. These will be replaced by 1/2 inch plywood sheets and new metal siding.
