Complete the following problems in your lecture notebook, QUIETLY. Pepe and Allison are finding the slope of the line that passes through (2, 6) & (5, 3). Pepe wrote. Allison wrote. Who was correct? EXPLAIN in writing. Announcements: Bring graph paper!!!!!!!! Unit 1 Retake will be 9/18/12. Unit 1 Test Corrections due 9/19/12. Do Now

Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of writing linear equations in 1) point-slope form, 2) slope-intercept form given two points, a graph, and a point and a slope by scoring at least basic on their exit slip. Objective
3
Standard 6.0 Students graph a linear equation and compute the x- and y-intercepts (e.g., graph 2x + 6y = 4). They are also able to sketch the region defined by linear inequality. Standard 7.0 Students verify that a point lies on a line, given an equation of the line. Students are able to derive linear equations by using the point- slope formula.
5
1) Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line with a slope of ¼ and a y-intercept of –6. 2) Write an equation in slope- intercept form of the line shown in the graph. 3) Write an equation of a line that passes through (2, –3) with slope ½.
6
4) Write the point-slope form of an equation for a line that passes through (–2, 0) with slope -3/2. 6) Write the point-slope form of an equation for a horizontal line that passes through (0, 5). 5)
7
1) Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line whose slope is 4 and whose y-intercept is 3. 2) Write an equation in slope intercept form of the line shown in the graph. 3) Write an equation of a line that passes through (1, 4) and has a slope of –3.
8
5) Write the point-slope form of an equation for a line that passes through (4, –3) with slope –2. 6) Write the point-slope form of an equation for a horizontal line that passes through (–3, –4). 4) Given the table, write an equation in slope intercept form that describes the function.
9
Exit Slip 1.Write the equation in slope-intercept form if the line goes through the point (-4, -3) and (5, 15). 2.Write the equation of the graph shown below in slope-intercept form.
10
Exit Slip 3. Write the equation in point slope form given (2, 3), m = 5 4. Write the equation of the line below in point- slope form.
