STUDY HALL SIT QUIETLY IN YOUR ASSIGNED SEATS GET YOUR BLUE CARD OUT PLACE IT ON YOUR DESK
2
WARM UP LABEL THE FOLLOWING ORGANISMS AS PRODUCERS, CONSUMERS, DECOMPOSERS MUSHROOMS SUNFLOWERS WORMS SHARKS ELEPHANTS CORN GET YOUR BLUE CARD OUT & PLACE IT ON YOUR DESK
3
VOLUNTEERS…. DID YOU GET THESE RIGHT? MUSHROOMS - DECOMPOSERS SUNFLOWERS - PRODUCERS WORMS - DECOMPOSERS SHARKS - CONSUMERS ELEPHANTS - CONSUMERS CORN - PRODUCERS
4
WRITE IN NOTEBOOK Food chains : show how plant life and animal life get bridged together by the things they eat. Like links of a chain
5
WRITE IN NOTEBOOK Food chains are important to all life on Earth. Within the chain, all organisms depend on one another to survive

Food Chain Brain Pop http://www.brainpop.com/science/ecolo gyandbehavior/foodchains/ http://www.brainpop.com/science/ecolo gyandbehavior/foodchains/ Bill Nye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=- YwW-iWxLr4 Bill Nye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=- YwW-iWxLr4
8
Activity Time Now we are going to make a food chain together… You need to fold your paper so that you have FIVE even sections.
9
Foldable time! Use the paper in your notebook Follow along with teacher Fold it like a hotdog. Divide the page into 5 equal sections Wait patiently and silently for further instructions.
10
Draw this on your foldable… Energy Energy returned to the environment energy

Mr. Parr song on food chains https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWfE n8J5xKM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWfE n8J5xKM
12
Do we understand….. On one end of the chain we find plant life; at the other end we can find carnivores. Example: Tigers eat gazelles, and gazelles eat grass. These organisms are linked together in a food chain.
13
Do we understand….. Decomposers connect the ends of the food chains They are nature’s recyclers They return nutrients to the soil and environment to be used again
14
10 MINUTES COMPLETE QUIET!
15
Quarter 3 Review How about a round of Jeopardy?
16
Now it’s your turn… You have 5 minutes…. Write down 1 producer, 3 consumers, and 1 decomposer. Consumers…think of 1 herbivore, 1 omnivore, and 1 carnivore that belong together (think of things that belong together, like a eating a mouse but DO NOT use that example) Now write them down in your notebook
17
Now it’s your turn… You have 1 producer, 3 consumers, and 1 decomposer. Fold your paper like we did before Outside: All 5 flaps are labeled. All 5 flaps have a drawing. Energy flow arrows are included. Inside: Each type is defined. You explained your food chain and how the organism fits in it.
18
Role of decomposers How return nutrients to the environment Fungi on fallen logs Mold on bread
19
Bacteria in animal guts Role of bacteria in guts of animals and plant roots as it helps to recycle matter

Carbon Cycle Water, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen are substances cycled between the living and non-living environments.
