Clercsville Our town is named “Clercsville” after Laurent Clerc. Clerc helped start the first school of the deaf.

Clercsville Motto “Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.” -Helen Keller Helen Keller was Deaf and blind.

Clercsville Flag This is the Clercsville Flag, the color pink represents equality. The yellow triangle represents all people, and the purple triangle represents deaf people. They are all within the pink, this shows that they are all equal.

Herb Larson Our mayor is Herb Larson, a famous deaf actor.

The Foster Tree We named our tree “The Foster Tree” after Andrew Foster. He was the first African- American graduate from Gallaudet. He was also a founder of many schools for the deaf in Africa.

The Mazique Lily Our flower is named “The Mazique lily”. It is named after Rachel C. Mazique, a deaf english teacher.
