2 IAEA Assistance Convention “Parties to Assistance Convention have undertaken to cooperate among them and with IAEA to facilitate prompt provision of assistance in case of a nuclear accident or radiological emergency, in order to mitigate its consequences.”

3 IAEA IAEA Incident and Emergency System The Incident and Emergency System (IES) implements the Agency’s functions IES consists of: 24/7 available warning point 24/7 on-call system Call-out system Steering group System Modes:  Normal/Ready Mode  Basic Response Mode  Full Response Mode

4 IAEA Requesting Assistance In the event of nuclear or radiological incident or emergency: Competent Authority or Permanent Mission can request assistance 1. Submit the RFA form on USIE; 2. Fax to the IEC; or 3. Telephone to the IEC. RFA include scope and type of assistance: Information on event Type(s) of assistance required
