2 70th IETF meeting, Dec. 2007 Summary of this draft This draft –proposes to define a standard lambda label format to achieve interoperability in wavelength switched all- optical networks. Multi-vendor environment Multi-domain environment –states the GMPLS signaling requirements considering wavelength continuity.

3 70th IETF meeting, Dec. 2007 Updates from 00 version Cleaned up texts. Corrected and modified figures. –Inter-connecting details in Fig. 2 are modified so as to fit to the overall architecture in Fig.1. Changed the label formats –Fitted to ITU-T specification –Channel spacing bits from 3 to 4 –The frequency indication bits from 9 to 16 are located at the end of the label considering a future extension. Requirements are limited only to signaling.

6 2015/12/266 Requirements 1.A wavelength label SHOULD be standardized in order to allow interoperability between multiple domains 2.The ITU-T frequency grid specified in [G.694.1] for DWDM and wavelength information in [G.694.2] for CWDM SHOULD be used 3.Labels SHOULD be stable and not allow for rounding errors. 4.Existing labels should be still utilized appropriately.
