2 What is Pulse Rate? Your heart pumps blood through your arteries, then it rests, then it pumps, then it rests. It does this without stopping.

3 Measuring Pulse You can feel this by pushing gently on your wrist with your index finger and middle fingers only Don’t use your thumb, why? Count number of beats for 10 seconds, multiply by 6

6 Resting Pulse The rate of your pulse that you feel is your resting rate. It is a measure of how quickly your heart is beating while you are not doing any physical activity
