2. Banksy is a street artist who was believed to originated in Bristol, England. He was born in 1974; other than that, not much is known about Banksy as his identity remains unknown. He began his work in the early 1990’s as a member of DryBreadZ Crew, a graffiti gang from Bristol.

3. When Banksy began his career, most of his early work was done freehand and rarely were stencils used. Later on, Banksy would begin to used stencils predominantly. It is mentioned in his book, “Wall and Piece” that when he started doing graffiti, he was too slow and would wither get caught or just couldn’t finish the image all at once. He began using stencils as a means of saving time.

4. The images in Banksy’s work often, if not always portray political themes such as capitalism, hypocrisy, greed and war. The subjects in these images are often children, policemen, members of the royal family, and apes.

5. Banksy’s name and identity remain unknown. There have been rumors like Banksy being a woman or Banksy could be a team of street artists instead of being just one person. There were even stories that Banksy had been arrested in October of 2014. That turned out to be false and to this day, we still don’t even know what he or she or they look like.
