Brief history 4 1996: 835 CERN concurrent users 2002: 10,000 CERN named users 2006: 4,000 CERN named users, 152 processor licenses for Tier1 sites, provision for additional processor licenses 2006-2013 additional processor licenses bought by Tier1 sites through CERN 2013-2018: new contract

New contract structure (1/3) 5 Concerns with previous contract structure: Tier1 sites processors /cores bound, (CERN named users,) new products (GoldenGate, Tuning/Diagnostic packs, Real Application Testing, etc. required), etc. Shared on 27 March 2013, start May 2013, 5 years duration Covers both CERN and “Tier1 sites for WLCG” No link between users and core CAMPUS license (academic) based on the number of users List of Tier 1 sites explicit in the contract, can be updated 5 years “term” license and support for a set of products (Database, Java Web, Business Intelligence)

Conclusion 8 2013-2018 covers WLCG Tier1 sites and CERN with possibility to extend until 2023 In case Oracle representatives are asking details, contact between Oracle people is recommended (Vincent.Burguburu@oracle.com) Work on alternative technologies is also happening Tier1 sites DBA and IT-DB joint work for data replication in a community, thank you!

Alternatives 10 A number of projects have moved to alternatives OnDemand MySQL and PostgreSQL service, scale-out database project

Master agreement 11 CERN may also allow a Tier 1 center (defined and listed in the Exhibit A) to use the programs in accordance with the terms and conditions of this agreement and all applicable ordering documents. CERN may allow a Tier 1 center to use the programs for the purpose of the CERN experiments, in accordance with the terms and conditions of this agreement and all applicable ordering documents. CERN shall be responsible for any breach of such terms by the Tier 1 centers. The Tier 1 centers, which are specified in the attached Exhibit A to the OMA and which is valid as of the effective date of this list, modified accordingly and an amendment to the OMA shall be signed between the parties.
