OBJECTIVES… Describe military and governmental events that shaped Europe in the early Middle Ages (600- 1000). Describe major cultural changes in Western Europe in the High Middle Ages (1000-1350). Explain how events and conditions fostered political and economic changes in the late Middle Ages and led to the origins of the Renaissance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE GRADED ON…. Work Ethic Do you use group time wisely? Did you meet all of your deadlines? Collaboration At the conclusion of the project, your teammates will score you on how well you performed during this task. So remember, do your part or it will come back to haunt you later!

WHAT YOU WILL BE GRADED ON… Historical Content Did you get it? Is your information accurate? Did you cover all of the required points? Written Communication Are your presentation materials grammatically and fundamentally sound? Are the materials well organized? Oral Communication When you present your projects, are your thoughts and presentations well organized and presented in a manner that anyone could understand?

WHAT YOU WILL BE GRADED ON… Critical Thinking Did you think about the material, break it down with teammates and then put your own “spin” on it? Remember, although you are working in groups, GRADES ARE INDIVIDUAL ACCORDING TO YOUR WORK AND EFFORT!

THE TASK…. Pretend that you are a Medieval travel agent and you are putting together a travel brochure to attract tourists. Design a digital presentation of your travel brochure. Digital presentations may include wikispaces, Power Point presentations, digital storytelling, or Voice Threads.

REQUIREMENTS… ALL group members must participate! If a group member is not abiding by his/her responsibilities according to the contract, they will be FIRED and must complete all project objectives by themselves! The firing of a team member will take a unanimous vote of all the team members.

REQUIREMENTS (CONT’D) Presentations will be subject to “paper deadlines” you’re group must turn handwritten (paper) drafts of presentation materials that must first be approved before proceeding to the “next step”. “Paper deadlines” are worth 50 points each. If you habitually miss “paper deadlines” your work ethic grade will suffer!

PRESENTATIONS… At the conclusion of this project, a presentation will be made to a panel of 3-5 school/community members. The panel will ask your group questions based on your presentation. Community members will be provided a “script” so you will have some ideas of the types of questions you may be asked. The panel will choose the best project in your class. The winning group will be invited to show their presentation at the countywide technology fair in May!

REMEMBER… Remember to have fun! Use your time wisely! Group collaboration time is precious so stay on task—not socialize and gossip! If you abuse the trust that I have given you it will be taken away! Use your inside voices! Give this your all! Really dig deep into the material and avoid using short cuts! You will be tested on the points that you must touch upon!
