Slide view: one slide at a time in center of the screen, allowing you to edit the slide. Slide Sorter view: column of thumbnail views current slide being viewed. - use for ease in reordering or deleting slides when there are many Notes Page view: page of presenter notes which correspond to the slides – NOT visible during a slide show presentation. Normal view: Displays the Slide or Outline and Notes Page views in one window, each view having its own pane with a large view of the current slide. Slide Show view: An electronic presentation which displays final slides one at a time, using effects added during the creation process.

Slide Layout: The slide layout is a predefined slide format that determines the position of the objects on a slide. You can access different slide layouts (title page, title + content, comparison, etc.) Placeholder: A placeholder refers to the spot determining the position of each object in the slide layout. (predefined in layouts) Design Template: A Design Template is a design specification that controls every element in a presentation, which specifies the color scheme for the slides and the arrangement of the different elements (placeholders) on each slide.

Animation Effects: Animation Effects, found in the Custom Animation-varies the way in which individual objects on a slide appear during the presentation. EX: bullets, letters or words appear one at a time, in reverse order, or dim them after they appear. Transition Effects: Transitions refer to the way in which one slide moves off the screen and the next slide appears. EX: they may move on the screen from left to right, fade, dissolve etc.

1. Determine the purpose: ◦ Do not cover too many topics ◦ Cover main point with a clear message 2. Show one (1) idea per slide: ◦ Too many ideas can confuse audience and cause you to stray from your purpose 3. Maintain a consistent design: ◦ Same design and color scheme throughout ◦ Creates continuity and cohesiveness 4. Keep slides simple and easy to read: ◦ Keep words to a minimum, use bullets to summarize 5. Determine printing needs: Handouts of slides? Outline? Note taking slides?
