POD WEEK 17 BY: ARON TORRES
2
THE PROBLEM If it takes Aron 1 hour to dig a whole 3 meters long, 3 meters wide and 3 meters deep, how long would it take him to dig a hole 6 meters long, 6 meters wide and 6 meters deep? (Assume he digs at the same speed.)
3
STEP 1 I cubed 3 and 6 because I wanted to find the volume of the whole and to do that I need to cube the number I got 216 cubic feet as the volume of the 6*6*6 hole and 27 cubic feet as the volume for the 3*3*3 hole
4
STEP 2 So the ratio of the hole with the volume of 27 cubic feet to 1 hour that it took to dig it was 27:1
5
STEP 3 So I then doubled that ratio giving me that 54 cubic feet was equal to 2 hours and 81 cubic feet to 3 hours… so on and so on, until I got to 216 cubic feet to 8 hours. I stopped at 216 cubic feet because that was what equaled 6 cubed (the whole its asking how long it would take to dig) so my ratio was 216:8
6
MY ANSWER IT TOOK ME 8 HOURS TO DIGG A 6*6*6 HOLE
