NEXIS is being developed to provide consistent exposure information to support regional and national risk assessments of buildings and infrastructure to natural hazards. NEXIS was created in response to COAG reform Commitment 2 – “establish a nationally consistent system of data collection, research and analysis to ensure a sound knowledge base on natural disasters and disaster mitigation”, Geoscience Australia’s (GA’s) Risk & Impact Analysis Group is working on the development of the NEXIS. The DCDB is critically important for the part it plays in the NEXIS Project.
