Is There a Downside? High initial expense. May be less image quality than film. Archiving file format for future use is impossible to anticipate. Complexity of equipment.

Types of Digital Cameras Fixed-location studio camera (advertising) $50,000 + High-resolution image files (80-200 MB) Print photojournalism camera $5,000 + Good resolution (5 -15 MB) New-media capable camera $700 + Resolution adequate for professional web use, CD-ROMs, or prints to 8 x 10 (around 5 MB). Amateur camera $200+ Resolution adequate for web use, or snapshot-size prints.
