3 What intelligences do schools usually look at?

4 1. Linguistic Intelligence
“Word smart” Enjoys reading, writing, listening, and speaking. These usually come easily. Enjoy learning new words, writing stories, telling stories, poetry, or public speaking. Others?

5 2. Musical Intelligence “Musical Smart”
You can detect rhythms, patterns, and tempos in things that seem to have none at all (chirping birds, crickets, your parent’s music). You can “hear” tone and pitch, and you may play musical instruments. Others?

6 3. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence
“Number/Reason Smart” You can easily put things in order and comprehend quantities – often in your head. Numbers and math may come easily to you. You may enjoy brain teasers, puzzles, strategy games, or computers. Others?

7 4. Visual-Spatial Intelligence
“Picture Smart” You notice when buildings, paintings, people, etc. are not symmetrical. Athletes can easily judge angels they need to score points. You can mentally rotate complex forms and/or draw well. You may be good and disassembling and reassembling things. You may enjoy jigsaw puzzles or drawing. Sailors, pilots, visual artists, and architects possess this intelligence. Others?

8 5. Bodily-Kinesthetic “Body Smart”
You are good at handling and manipulating objects, and your body moves with grace and ease. You enjoy training your body to do its physical best. You may have talents with crafts – carving, sewing, weaving, ceramics. Dancers and surgeons possess this intelligence. Others?

9 6. Interpersonal Intelligence
“People Smart” You easily understand and accept other people, and you can perceive their moods and feelings. You may be a natural leader and a good mediator – you can see both sides of a situation and help others do the same. Teachers, actors, counselors, and politicians possess this intelligence. Others?

10 7. Intrapersonal Intelligence
“Self Smart” You understand yourself well. You are profoundly aware of your feelings, dreams, ideas, and are true to your goals. You may “march to your own drum beat”. You have wisdom, intuition, a strong will, and clear opinions. You are self-motivated, may enjoy journaling, don’t mind being alone, and you may be shy. Others?

11 8. Naturalist Intelligence
“Nature Smart” You feel a deep connection to the natural world and its inhabitants – plants and animals. You enjoy being outdoors and observing it. You may be a talented gardener and/or cook.

12 9. Existential Intelligence
“Question smart” You enjoy and have talents grappling “Big Questions” such as the meaning of life and death, who we are, the nature of God, why we’re here, and why the world exists. Psychologists, poets, novelists, artists, and teacher may have this quality. Others?

13 10. Spiritual Intelligence
“Spirit Smart” You are sensitive to and have an interest in spiritual and/or religious matters. You experience wonder and awe; you’re aware of an “otherness”. You have faith and perceive that we are being guided and/or helped by spiritual forces. Others?
