What is speed? › How fast you are going What does it depend on? › How much distance you cover over a period of time. Ex. You drive at an average of 100km/h. How long will it take to drive to Halifax, 500km away? We therefore use the following formula -

What does it depend on? › How much distance you cover over a period of time. We therefore use the following formula – V (as in velocity) is used for speed. They are much the same.

Ex. It takes Mr. Glenwright 0.8 hours to get to SHS, which is 45km from his house. What is his average speed when he travels to school?
