19
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave Hello children! I am Dr. Dave. I am so glad you came. We recently discovered this site and believe that together we all can find some interesting objects which can tell us more about the warring states era, in particular about Confucius. Backdrop of an excavation site.
20
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave Let me show you something I found while digging. Backdrop of an excavation site.
21
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave Backdrop of an excavation site. What do you think this is? A coin? A Symbol?
22
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave Backdrop of an excavation site. This is regarded as the symbol of Confucianism. And that is why we believe that this site is related to Confucius and we may find some interesting artifacts, which tell us more about him.
23
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave There are two “sites” we have found so far. One is the place where he must have lived. The second site we have found could be his school. Site 1 Living Place Site 1 Living Place Site 2 School Site 2 School
24
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave His philosophy was that strong family values forms the basis of a stable society, and there by the country. Site 1 Living Place Site 1 Living Place Site 2 School Site 2 School
25
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave Site 1 Living Place Site 1 Living Place Site 2 School Site 2 School Confucius did not have a school building, like you have today. He taught in the compound of his own house, under an old scholar tree.
26
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave Site 1 Living Place Site 1 Living Place Site 2 School Site 2 School He taught his students to become “gentlemen” so that they could wisely and effectively govern the state. He encouraged them to lead a disciplined and family-centered way of life.
27
Learning from Confucius Dr. Dave Site 1 Living Place Site 1 Living Place Site 2 School Site 2 School We think that the objects or artifacts in the first site will tell us about Confucius’s life at home. While the objects in the school will shed more light on his teaching philosophy.
