What is Work Experience?  Much more than a week out of school!  Part of our Work Related Learning Curriculum  Important Careers Milestone in KS4  Can help with decision making for KS5 and beyond  Has benefits for students, teachers, industry and hopefully parents!

Feedback, what our parents told us …  “My son spent a week at College Lake and had a fantastic week. The staff there were completely organised.. Some days were inside and others were outside but always packed with … responsibilities.  He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and got a lot out of it personally. Thank you, small details made the week a success..

Work experience at Waitrose  I would just like to say how much he enjoyed it and what a positive experience it was. His week was well organised, he did different things each day and got a feel for different aspects of the business. It was good for his interpersonal skills talking to different staff members and the public. Thank you.

Work experience at Halfords  “I just wanted to give you some feedback regarding my daughter’s placement, after initial hesitations entering a presumed male dominated retail area she soon settled … there were in fact many women employed there as well … She was told on Wednesday that they were impressed with her work ethic and were keen to offer her a job at 16, she was delighted.

What our students told us  New skills: communication, using equipment, occupation specific skills,  What school subjects are useful? Maths, English, Art, Sports, Life Skills, Music, German, IT, Design & Technology, Science  Highlights: “Being offered a job”, “Getting to know the customers”, “Feeling more responsible”
