1 Would You Be Missed? Then Jonathan said to David, “Tomorrow is the New Moon; and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty.” (1 Samuel 20:18) Based on sermon outline by Joe Price in The Spiritual Sword, June 6, 2010 Preached at West Side on July 4, 2010 PM Print Slides: 1, 14, 17 Our part in the church ought to be filled with faithful activities that would be missed if we were not present!

2 Would You Be Missed? Are you regularly in your appointed place?
Acts 10:33; Luke 12:42-44

3 Acts 10:33 “So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God.” Cornelius spoke truly. We do well when we keep the appointments we make with God!

4 Luke 12:42-44 And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 44 Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.”

5 Would You Be Missed? Are you regularly in your appointed place?
Acts 10:33; Luke 12:42-44 Do you demonstrate love and friendship? John 13:34-35; Proverbs 18:24

6 John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. Christians prove themselves (by action) to be true friends to one another.

7 Proverbs 18:24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. To have friends, you must be a friend!

8 Would You Be Missed? Are you regularly in your appointed place?
Acts 10:33; Luke 12:42-44 Do you demonstrate love and friendship? John 13:34-35; Proverbs 18:24 Are you an encouragement to the church? Jude 22-23; Romans 12:10-16

9 Jude 22-23 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. Sometimes you encourage (strengthen) through loving admonition.

10 Romans 12:10-16 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. [Participation in Spiritual Work Encourages!]

11 Would You Be Missed? Are you regularly in your appointed place?
Acts 10:33; Luke 12:42-44 Do you demonstrate love and friendship? John 13:34-35; Proverbs 18:24 Are you an encouragement to the church? Jude 22-23; Romans 12:10-16 Are you dependable? Titus 3:1-2; Philemon 21

12 Titus 3:1-2 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. Paul indicated to Titus that Christians should be dependable

13 Philemon 21 Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we worthy of the same amount of praise

14 Would You Be Missed? Are you regularly in your appointed place?
Acts 10:33; Luke 12:42-44 Do you demonstrate love and friendship? John 13:34-35; Proverbs 18:24 Are you an encouragement to the church? Jude 22-23; Romans 12:10-16 Are you dependable? Titus 3:1-2; Philemon 21 Are you a helper? 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15; Philippians 2:3-4

15 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. 15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

16 Philippians 2:3-4 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

17 Conclusion For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. (Hebrews 6:10) Your involvement with the saints is required by God... And, faithfulness in this will bring reward from Him.
