Fruits 9. For 8th -12th grade females: 2 cups of fruit per day. 10. For 8th -12th grade Males: 2 cups of fruit per day.

Fruits Fruit is a great source of vitamin c. which supports our immune system. Examples: apples, strawberries, bananas, kiwi, blueberries. And oranges

Vegetables 13. For 8th -12th grade females: 2 ½ cups of per day. 14. For 8th -12th grade Males: 3 cups per day.

Vegetables 15. Vegetables are a great source of vitamins b and c. 16. Vitamin B helps the immune system and nervous system function properly 17. Examples: Broccoli, spinach, romaine lettuce, corn, sweet potatoes, celery, and cauliflower.

Grains Grains are food made from wheat, oats, and rice.
Two categories: whole grains and refined grains. EG: Brown and white rice 20. Both females and males should consume between 6-7 ounces of grains everyday.

Proteins Helps the body grow and recover from activity.
Proteins are made from meat, poultry, eggs, nuts and seafood Both males and females should consume 5-6 ounces of protein in a day

Dairy This group consists of foods made from milk or contains calcium
EG: milk, yogurt, and cheese Everyone should drink or consume about 3 cups of dairy per Day.
