media exchange What do we do? Since 2008 we have: Trained 200 young people in media skills Recruited 70 volunteer journalists Conferences Media & communications contract work Our training is informed by the fundamentals of good journalism, fairness, listening to both sides of the story and getting it right….

big Idea: media exchange = social enterprise The Media Hub is a one-stop shop for media and communications Serving refugee and migrant communities All not-for-profits in Victoria

Opportunities abound: Most medium sized not for profits (incomes < $20 million a year) do NOT have communications staff Strong need to improve communications to talk to members, donors and the public good idea

Pro Bono prototype Pro Bono Australia has offered to test the market (Its website has 35,000 hits a month in Victoria.) Pro Bono pilot will: Identify the need for media and comms among NFP’s Identify what services are required Help connect consultants with clients MEAA & PRIA agreed to alert freelancers to the website
