2.  The goal of the Central School District Library Media Program is to ensure that students become lifelong learners who are effective users of ideas and information.  The idea is that these students will grow up to be globally minded, without having to be global travelers.

3.  Each curriculum is designed around a guiding question, which must be answered using several different medias.  New York State Learning Standards must be included in that guiding process. Standard 1: Language for Information and Understanding Standard 2: Language for Literary Response and Expression Standard 3: Language for Critical Analysis and Evaluation Standard 4: Language for Social Interaction  Standards for the 21 st Century Learner

4.  Grades: 3-6  Student Population: 600  Collection Size: apx.13,000 titles

6.  The Librarian is helpful with:  Discovering interesting topics  Enhancing research skill of both teachers and students  Improving writing skills of ideas  Changing attitudes of doing projects and research  Improving information seeking and use  Student interaction  Teacher interaction  Fostering reading engagement  Attributing to learning outcome

7.  Promoting literacy is the second objective that we use to reach our goal of ensuring that students become life-long learners who are effective users of ideas and information.
