There is only one kind of restoration that pleases God. n God restores the heart of people. (Psa 23:1-3)

There is only one kind of restoration that pleases God. n Psalm 23:1-3 (NKJV) - The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

There is only one kind of restoration that pleases God. n Anything less than this is to “play religion and to play church.” (Joel 2:12-13)

What are we Offering to God? n Joel 2:12-13 (NKJV) - “Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “Turn to Me with all your heart,With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” 13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.

What are we Offering to God? n What does God see in your heart?

What are we Offering to God? n What does God see in your heart? n As a fruit of restored hearts we find obedience to God in all things.

What are we Offering to God? n What does God see in your heart? n As a fruit of restored hearts we find obedience to God in all things. n What should the local church be like? A restored heart will want to know and make corrections.

What are we Offering to God? n Is it unspiritual to talk about the “one true church” or point out the differences between denominational practices and what our head wants? NO!

What are we Offering to God? n Is it unspiritual to talk about the “one true church” or point out the differences between denominational practices and what our head wants? NO! n Where is our emphasis when we say these things, the head or us? (Col 2:18-19)

What are we Offering to God? n Colossians 2:18-19 (NKJV) - Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.

What are we Offering to God? n Are you in need of a restored heart?

What are we Offering to God? n Are you in need of a restored heart? n Just as we see in spring a renewal and revival of life, we too can have our hearts drift from fervent service to Him. (Hos 14:7)

What are we Offering to God? n Hosea 14:7 (NKJV) Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon.

What are we Offering to God? n How does one come out of the spiritual doldrums and have this needed revival?

We must have our sight renewed. n Will the real blind man please stand up? (Jn 9:32-41)

We must have our sight renewed. n John 9:32-41 (NKJV) - Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. 33 If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.” 34 They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they cast him out.

We must have our sight renewed. n 35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?” 36 He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?” 37 And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.”

We must have our sight renewed. n 38 Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him. 39 And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.” 40 Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”

We must have our sight renewed. n 41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

We must have our sight renewed. n Jesus spoke of blindness. (Jn 9:32-41) n Self-deception is easy. (Jer 17:9-10) n Opening hearts is dangerous business. (Acts 2:37; 7:54)

We must have our sight renewed. n Acts 2:37 (NKJV) - Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

We must have our sight renewed. n Acts 7:54 (NKJV) - When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.

We must have our sight renewed. n “Revival is... God revealing himself to man in awful holiness and irresistible power.... If we find a revival that is not spoken against, we had better look again to ensure that it is a revival.”

We must have our sight renewed. n Jesus spoke of blindness. (Jn 9:32-41) n Self-deception is easy. (Jer 17:9-10) n Opening hearts is dangerous business. (Acts 2:37; 7:54) n Only the humble can profit. (Isa 57:15)

We must have our sight renewed. n Isaiah 57:15 (NKJV) - For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

We must have our sight renewed. n This is how suffering helps us. (Ex. “Discontentment in life always has a spiritual root. Look to your spiritual foundations first.”)

We must have our sight renewed. n What is the greatest danger for the church here?

I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

We must have our sight renewed. n 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

We must have our sight renewed. n 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

We must have our sight renewed. n History has show that the larger, prosperous churches in the cities are the leaders in every apostasy. Why is this?

We must have our sight renewed. n History has show that the larger, prosperous churches in the cities are the leaders in every apostasy. Why is this? n If we are going to be the exception we are going to have to be exceptional!

We must see God anew n You may think you are wonderful until you stand in the presence of the One who is purity itself. It is the pure light of God that pierces a man. You can keep up your pretense of being holy until you stand in that light. Then immediately there is nowhere to hide, all your masks are torn away, all your hollow smiles fade. Revival means to be exposed for what we are. The presence of the Lord is revealing.”

We Look to Renew Others n “You and I are to be such that as we walk up and down the streets of life, people will be struck and attracted. You have seen them turn and look at a well-dressed person.... They should be struck by us, and look at us, and think, "What is this person? I have never seen anybody quite like this before!"...

We Look to Renew Others n That is the kind of people we can be and the kind of people that we must be.
