They Had Been With Jesus! Acts 4:5-13 “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled” (13)
2
They Had Been With Jesus! It will be noticed by others! 1 Peter 4:3-4; Ephesians 5:8-11; Matthew 5:13-16
3
1 Peter 4:3-4 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles -- when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.
4
Ephesians 5:8-11 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
5
Matthew 5:13-16 You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

They Had Been With Jesus! It will be noticed by others! 1 Peter 4:3-4; Ephesians 5:8-11; Matthew 5:13-16 Our confidence will be in Christ, not our own credentials 1 Cor. 2:1-5; Acts 17:16-18; Psalm 119:97-100

1 Corinthians 2:1-5 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Acts 17:16-18 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. 17 Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there. 18 Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,” because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.

Psalm 119:97-100 Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. 99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. 100 I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep Your precepts. Confidence is found for us in Christ's will!

They Had Been With Jesus! It will be noticed by others! 1 Peter 4:3-4; Ephesians 5:8-11; Matthew 5:13-16 Our confidence will be in Christ, not our own credentials 1 Cor. 2:1-5; Acts 17:16-18; Psalm 119:97-100 We will have boldness in Christ! 'boldness' - free and fearless confidence, cheerful courage (Thayer) 1 John 5:4-5; Acts 4:29-31; Acts 4:18-20
11
1 John 5:4-5 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? Our faith gives us cause for boldness!
12
Acts 4:29-31 “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” 31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Boldness can be obtained through prayer!
13
Acts 4:18-20 So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” An understanding of obligation (obedience) will engender boldness in the faithful.
14
Conclusion Do people know by your words and works that you are “with” Jesus? If we trust in Him... through faith, prayer and obedience show ourselves to be lights in the world... people will notice our relationship with Christ Matthew 28:18-20
15
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Jesus' promise to all His disciples!
