2. Photos © Tim Matsui / www.timmatsui.com Mission YouthCare builds confidence and self-sufficiency for homeless youth by providing a continuum of care that includes outreach, basic services, emergency shelter, housing, counseling, education, and employment training.

Our Services Engage – Build trust and meet basic needs – Services: Street outreach, drop-in center, case management, and emergency shelter Stabilize – Give youth a safe place to work on long-term goals – Services: Transitional and community-based housing Prepare – Reconnect young people to work and school – Education services: GED tutoring, SPS Interagency Academy, life skills, health education, college preparation – Employment services: job training, paid internships, and job placement

Employment Training Programs  Offer a variety and continuum of programs based on interests and readiness.  Skills that are pertinent, portable and transferable.  Over 100 hours of work readiness training through Get Your Work On! T The Philosophy  Development is sequential and evolves by building on previous skills.  Provide a menu of educational and employment programs--youth make the choice based on their goals, interests and readiness.  Embed educational expectations and curriculum within employment training programs.  Provide staff support and/or case management for all youth.  Provide clear rules and develop groups guidelines and be consistent.  Have and state high expectations; celebrate success.  Incentive positive outcomes/behavior and pay wages for work training.  Provide opportunities for youth leadership.
