Life expectancy The number of children that die before their first birthday per 1000 people A social welfare index based upon life expectancy (health), adult literacy (education) & real GNP per capita (economic).

7 Short term aid is given during or immediately after disasters such as earthquakes, floods or wars. It brings help quickly to people affected by the disaster. Long term aid is given to enable countries to develop and improve people’s quality of life over time.
