Role of HODs A Head of Department is responsible for the management of a team of subject teachers in the delivery of the curriculum. The development of appropriate teaching and learning strategies. The management of staff and students to ensure a high level of personal achievement.

The establishment and management of a programme of staff development to ensure appropriate experience and expertise. Through the departmental development plan, to review the operation of the department and plan future development.

The HOD has a professional responsibility for the well-being of staff and students. Have strategies in place to cope with under-achievement or poor discipline; these systems; engender a team approach to management within the department; be involved in the process of new staff appointments.

Departmental Development Plan Quality Assurance Supporting and observing colleagues (and being observed) is vital to the task. Quality assurance is non-threatening, but an essential aspect of our support for each other.

Action plan Preparation of Lesson plan based on differentiation Designing frame works, scaffoldings and varying activities for delivery of content. Differentiated assessment strategies and question pools. Individual score chart & portfolio Requirement of resources Professional training & demo of classes.

Presenting the plan in the CC for approval. Display of the action plan on the wall magazine.

Schedule for meetings HODs meet 26 -3-13 (7.15am – 8.15) Council in-charges meet 26-3-13 (9am-10) Subject teachers meet Council meet Central council meet
