9 ICD-10-PCS Code Descriptions: Not Elsewhere Classified (NEC) Options are reduced. App - 9

10 ICD-10-PCS Structure of codes: 7 characters Alphanumeric May include any letter of the alphabet except the letters O and I App - 10

11 ICD-10-PCS Tabular Listing: 17 sections First character in a code identifies in which section code is listed. App - 11

12 ICD-10-PCS Alphabetic Index: Sorted by root operation term This identifies the specific service or type of treatment that is the basis of the entire procedure. App - 12

13 Chapter Summary Once the U.S. Congress approves an official start date for the use of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, you will have plenty of time to indoctrinate yourself to its proper usage. However, you now have an overview of this new system, and basically know how to use it. App - 13
