4 Readiness Activity How well can you follow instructions?

5 Math Message Look through your journal for things that may be different from your fourth grade journal. Read “Welcome to Fifth Grade Everyday Mathematics” on page 1. Highlight any words that you do not know or that you think are interesting.

6 Math Message Follow-Up The last pages in the journal are activity sheets that will be torn out at certain times. The inside front cover and the reference pages before the Activity Sheets in the journal contain quick resources for you to use in your work.

7 Let’s examine the Student Reference Book! Look through your reference book. What do you notice about the contents of the book? How could you use the reference book?

8 Time for a scavenger hunt! With your table, work on workbook pages 2 and 3. You will add your points at the end of the hunt, the pair with the most points win the prize!

9 Math Boxes Work on Math Boxes on page 4 of your workbook. If you finish early, work on your Study Link 1.1.
