SPRING TRIP TO GRAZ, AUSTRIA Wednesday, March 16 Depart from Dulles Airport for Graz. Austria Depart from Dulles Airport. Flight details to be provided at a later date. Thursday, March 17 Arrive in Graz After meeting up with your hot families, spend the rest of the day relaxing and getting adjusted to your new time zone. Friday, March 18 School Visit Day Spend today shadowing your host brothers and sisters around from class-to-class to see what school life is like in Austria. After school, share the American way of life at a presentation for your hosts and members of the school. Saturday, March 19 & Sunday, March 20 Free Days with Host Families Spend the weekend in the company of your host families and exploring the sights in your neighborhood. Monday, March 21 Walking Tour of Graz Explore the highlights of Graz, designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Visit the Zeughaus, which stores the 2 nd largest collection of armory behind the Tower of London. Ascend the Schlossberg (the centerpiece of Graz), and climb 23 stories for a spectacular view of the. Free time is also planned for exploring shops, cafes and the unique streets of this medieval town. Tuesday, March 22 Castle Riegersburg and Chocolate Factory Zotter Visit one of the most spectacular castles in all of Austria and the only one never conquered by an enemy. Take a rocky path up to its amazing gates to discover the architectural and historical wonders of this structure. Afterwards you’ll visit the Zotter Chocolate Factory and indulge in sweet treats.

SPRING TRIP TO GRAZ, AUSTRIA Wednesday, March 23 Lippizanner Farm & Loipersdorf Spa Lippizanner Farm that raises the magnificent horses of the Spanish Riding School will be your first stop today. Then a special treat awaits you at Loipersdorf Spa where the restorative waters will soothe your body and soul. Thursday, March 24 Climb the Shoeckl Put on your hiking shoes and get ready to climb up Graz’s local mountain – the Schoeckl. This mountain offers amazing views of the area. After a 2 hour climb, the rocky paths give way to open pastures and dairy cows. Reward yourself at the top with a cup of hot chocolate and slice of streusel. Note: Students can opt out of this activity, if they are uncertain of making the climb. Friday, March 25 Free Day with Host Families Spend your final day in Graz with your hosts, and discover their Easter traditions. Pack your bags for your final 2 days in Salzburg. Saturday, March 26 Salzburg Bid farewell to your hosts and board an early train for a scenic ride to Salzburg. This legendary town served as a backdrop for the “Sound of Music”. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and then head to the Salt Mines for a unique underground tour of this precious mineral which you may mistake for diamonds. Return to the town center for the evening and enjoy dinner on your own. Sunday, March 27 Celebrate Easter Spend today observing how the villagers celebrate Easter. Walk past Mirabel castle and the birthplace of Mozart. Enjoy a holiday dinner. Monday, March 28 Depart for the U.S. Sadly, your Austrian adventures have come to a close. Board a flight back to Washington, DC and arrive in time for dinner to share stories of your travels. Flight details to be provided later.
