Alberto Giacometti Born in1901, in Borgonovo, Switzerland. His father was Post-Impressionist painter. Impressed by work of Paul Cézanne. Deeply influenced by African and Egyptian art. Member of the surrealist movement (dreamlike or fantasy art). A friend of Picasso in 1940s Work deals with Post –World War II societal isolationism and the aftermath of the horrors of the War. Giacometti died January 11, 1966.
