Poetry Piece Connection The play, Death of a Salesman, focuses on the struggle of a man to achieve the American Dream (money, success, reputation), and how that struggle has shaped the relationships in his life (particularly with his wife and two sons). While reading, think of these poems. What do fathers/adults in our lives give up for us? What do they do for us? What pressures do they have on them to achieve success? How do they model that for us? How are we shaped by our parents’ desires for us, and for themselves?
