RBY Projects Overview RBY Projects (‘RBY’) is the largest 100% Indigenous owned and managed company in the resource sector in Queensland, striving to ensure safe, reliable and high quality outcomes while promoting community sustainability. RBY is working with a number of resource companies including QGC, Origin Energy and Santos. 3. History - Managing Director Derek moved from his government role 15 years ago to develop a remote outstation for the Waanyi people Derek established an earthmoving business at Century Mine for the Waanyi community 13 years ago. Derek started RBY 4 years ago to move his model for enterprise development and employment to the CSG industry Derek became the Chair of AEMEE (Aboriginal Enterprises in Mining, Energy and Exploration) 3 years ago which is the peak body representing Indigenous enterprises that work in the mining, oil and gas sector.

4. History of RBY RBY was formed in 2011 when Derek Flucker and other key staff transitioned from NPC with the aim of implementing the ‘Indigenous Business Model’ across Australia RBY competed on the open market. RBY won two major tenders with Origin and QGC. RBY negotiated a Master Works Agreement with Santos. In the past 4 years RBY grew from 5 people to 130 people during the development works in Phase 1. RBY currently has a steady work force which has been reduced in the downturn. RBY has an indigenous workforce of 35% with the QGC workforce being 80%.

6. Business Award 2015 RBY Projects won the Indigenous Business Award at the 2015 Ethnic Business Awards. Awards televised on SBS. 2015 was the largest number of applications received from Indigenous businesses. 360 Applications were received which formed 40% of the total applications received for all awards.
