4 Number of Players New Information Number of substitutes allowed in FIFA matches. –Three substitutes used –Maximum of 3-7 names given Changing of goalkeepers and punishment if not done properly –Referee informed –Change made during stoppage 4

5 Number of Players New Information Goalkeeper Punishment (cont) –Play continues –Players are cautioned at next stoppage Substitutes Entering without Permission –Play stopped –Substitute shown yellow card and leaves field –Play restarted with drop ball 5

10 Ball In and Out of Play Objective The learner will be able to understand when a ball is out of play to the satisfaction of the instructor 10

11 Ball In and Out of Play Review –Ball is out of play when it has wholly crossed the goal line or touch line –Play has been stopped by the referee 11

12 Ball In and Out of Play Ball is in play at all other times including: –Rebound from goalpost, crossbar or corner flag –Rebounds from the referee or assistant referee when they are on the field of play 12

13 Penalty Kick Objective Learner will know when to award a penalty kick and how to properly take the kick 13

14 Penalty Kick Review –Free kick awarded if the defending team commits any of the ten penal fouls within the penalty area. 14

15 Penalty Kick Conditions that must be observed: –Ball stationary, on penalty mark –Kicker and goalkeeper are identified and properly positioned –All others are ten yards from the ball inside the field, outside penalty area and behind penalty mark –Signal must be given by referee 15

16 Penalty Kick Conditions (cont) –Ball must be kicked and moved forward –Kicker cannot play ball a second time until someone else has played it –Goalkeeper may not leave goal line 16

17 Penalty Kick What happens if there is an infringement during the kick: –Identified kicker -- allow kick to proceed, if it scores, retake it; if it does not, do not retake kick –Goalkeeper– allow kick to proceed, if it scores, award it; if it does not, retake kick –Teammate of kicker -- allow kick to proceed, if it scores, retake it; if it does not, do not retake kick 17

18 Penalty Kick What happens if there is an infringement (cont): –Teammate of kicker and ball rebounds from goalkeeper, or goalpost/crossbar and touched by this player – stop match and restart with indirect free kick –Teammate of goalkeeper -- allow kick to proceed, if it scores, award it; if it does not, retake kick –Player of both teams – kick is retaken 18

19 Penalty Kick What happens if there is an infringement after the kick: –Kicker touches the ball again; indirect free kick –Kicker deliberately handles ball; direct free kick –Ball is touched by outside agent; retake kick 19
